Dancers: Boston Ballet II
17 minutes, 6 movements
A lush movement work devoted to the theme of creating light. The word "illumination" is depicted in this 17 minute ballet as a clearing of sorts -- with the creation of bright and lasting energy . The piece is decorative in movement design, as the illuminated manuscripts of the past were decorated with gold, colors and ornate designs. The rich and lively musical score provides inspiration for the energy and substance of the work. On the eve of the new millennium, this hopeful new piece focuses on ushering in the new century with the fervor of newly-found creative energy, light and a great hope for the future. Using a blend of both ballet and modern styles, this piece is fresh, playful and energetic. The loving and youthful energy of the dancers was inspiration for the work.
